Info2cell.com forms joint venture with ADU Communication Technology for SMS and MMS services in Sudan
Telecom specialists to provide high-quality content service; to capitalize on expected 23.3 percent increase in subscriber base in 2008

July 2008

Info2cell.com, the leading mobile application service provider in the Middle East, has announced that it has launched mobile short message and multimedia messaging services (SMS and MMS) in Sudan through a joint venture with ADU Communication Technology, a local telecommunications specialist. The partners will team up to provide high-quality content services to the booming domestic mobile telecommunications market.

Info2cell.com’s subscription base continues to expand significantly, with a further 23.3 percent increase expected by the end of 2008. The new SMS and MMS services from its joint venture cover various categories, including News, Sports, Islamic, and Entertainment content; BBC SMS News and Sport and DUOA Islamic channel with audio MMS are presently supported.

Bashar Dahabra, CEO and Founder of Info2cell.com, said: “Sudan’s telecommunications sector is still in the middle stages of development and thus represents a lucrative growth area. This market is vital for expansion plans that will help us maintain our leading position in the broader Middle Eastern arena. We are pleased that we have been able to partner with ADU, whose extensive experience and expertise will help us easily attain our operational and marketing goals in the country.”

Recent projects launched under the new services include the LAKI and Women in Islam channels dedicated to Muslim women; full coverage of Euro 2008 via both SMS and MMS messages; and a first-of-its-kind mobile application in Sudan called the Euro-2008 Guide. Additional services being planned include the launching of multimedia content from Ring Tones and Java Games and the introduction of MAGALATI, the first SMS magazine in the country.

The latest Info2cell.com initiative reflects its aim of reaching the largest number of subscribers in the Arab region through effective operational management and joint ventures with major telecommunications companies. While the mobile phone penetration rates in many Middle Eastern countries exceed 100 percent, the average rate across the entire region is less than 40 percent. The mobile sector is nevertheless expected to attain 10 percent revenue growth towards 2012 to reach almost USD 40 billion in value.

“We need to maintain an aggressive approach if we want to remain competitive in the rapidly-evolving Middle Eastern telecommunications market. We recognize that key partnerships and innovative services are vital to ensure our productivity and growth in this thriving industry. Info2cell.com will continue to forge alliances that will enable us to satisfy the unique needs of Arab consumers,” concluded Dahabra.
