Cannes, France Feb 2, 2000
Fastlink, Jordan's first private cellular operator announced it
has selected Info2cell.com, as it's first content provider.
The announcement was made by Mr. Michael Dagher, Fastlink CEO
during the current GSM 2000 World Congress, which is being held
here.
Fastlink will shortly be launching SMS information services and
plans to launch WAP services later this year. Info2cell.com
was selected for its quality information services and their ability
to provide local Jordanian and Middle East news and information.
"Fastlink's upcoming launch of SMS information services is a further
step in our aim to provide our customers with not only excellent
voice and voice related value added services, but also the latest
in wireless data services and technology." Said Mr. Dagher.
Through nationwide coverage in Jordan that provides 97% population
coverage and roaming services with over 100 GSM operators in some
53 countries, Fastlink has established itself as one of the leading
GSM operators in the Middle East region. Last year it provided
some 100,000 subscribers with a relaunched Voice Mail Service
and has also recently launched prepaid services which have witnessed
tremendous growth in demand.
Info2cell.com General Manager Mr. Bashar Dahabra said of the
latest agreement; "We are very pleased by this vote of confidence
from Fastlink, and we look forward to working with Fastlink in
developing mobile information delivery in Jordan. Info2cell.com
is currently running parallel trials with a number of other Middle
Eastern GSM operators. We have also established a number of major
technology alliances with GSM suppliers, and have become a member
of the WAP forum". Info2cell.com is the first Middle-East
content provider to exhibit at the GSM World Congress in Cannes.
