WAPs Up Bumper GITEX
Dubai, 1st November 2000
Info2cell, the Middle East's pioneering mobile information
services provider, finished GITEX 2000 in a bouyant mood following
key deals that not only add to the company's rich mobile information
content, but that will also take the Jordanian/UAE company into
new world markets.
"GITEX 2000 is a show that will remain in our minds
for a long time," said Bashar Dahabra. "We had a storming show,
met thousands of new friends, struck new deals and have ended the
show with new impetus, new goals and new strengths. I don't know
what else you could ever expect from attending a show!"
During GITEX, info2cell signed a deal with leading
European mobile information services company Acotel that will see
a $4 million investment in Info2cell by Acotel, along with a number
of strategic product, service and content moves that will bring
Acotel's advanced technologies to Middle East users and Info2cell's
content and innovation to markets in Europe and the Americas.
The company also announced that it is to embark on
a major new project to bring BBCArabic.com content to mobile users:
the deal also marks the launch of Arabic language mobile information
services in the Middle East and other world regions for the first
time.
"GITEX was a major triumph for us, and we'll be back
next year with a much bigger presence for sure," said Dahabra. "It
looks like we'll have to book space early because of the demand
from other exhibitors, but I'm pleased to make that commitment with
the kind of return on investment we've seen this year."
In addition to the two major announcements Info2cell
made during GITEX 2000, other key alliances were confirmed between
Info2cell and partners during GITEX, with announcements expected
soon after the show.
