The Internet revolution that started in the 90's took the speed
of business from overdrive right into hyper speed territory, with
companies large and small struggling to keep up. Just when some
were starting to catch up and at the doorstep of the new millenium,
the 90's not wanting to be forgotten stepped up and offered an all-new
challenge
the wireless revolution.
Realizing the potential of a market in dire need of wireless Value
Added Services, Info2cell was founded in 1998, the region's first
wireless information provider supplying premium content in over
250 categories.
During the year 2000, the realization became apparent that content
provision is only a small part of what the market now demands. In
response, Info2cell reengineered and redesigned its core business,
invested $2.5 Million USD in a comprehensive top of the line
adaptable wireless platform, and became effectively the first Wireless
Application Service Provider (W-ASP) in the Middle East and
North Africa (MENA) region. The content provision model
was also revamped with the addition of many content providers and
channels, to fully compliment the new services being offered, and
allowing Info2cell to offer complete fully comprehensive solutions.
Info2cell draws on the experience of the Italian Acotel group in
its service offering, which is strengthened further with the location
of the wireless platform at its new home in Dubai Internet City
(DIC).
The company headquarters are now located
in the heart of the Middle-East technology hub at Dubai Internet
City (DIC), the primary Development Center is in Amman Jordan, and
editorial offices in: Amman, Beirut, Cairo and Ramallah in Palestine.
Info2cell is a private shareholding company with $5 Million USD
in paid up capital. The shareholders are a diverse group, from the
UAE the Belhasa Group listed as a Top 50 Corporation in that
country, from Jordan Abu Jaber Investment Group, and from
Italy the Acotel Group one of Europe's leading Wireless Application
Service Providers.
